Perhaps Spotify used to recognise a Sonos ‘system’ as one device, regardless of the number of speakers on that system, but now recognises each individual speaker as one device. Please report if you still have issues streaming to multiple rooms from your Sonos app. So we're having two weird problems with the Google Homes. Our house layout is this, Google Home downstairs in the living room.

You will lose the ability to pause/stop from the notification for anything on your wifi then, but can still do so from the Home app. You can change the name, set a nickname and change which room the speaker is in. Just open the Google Home app on iOS or Android and tap the Devices icon in the top right corner. After that, you should take advantage of Google Home's latest setting by assigning your speakers to different rooms.
How to Set Up Multi-Room Music Playback on Google Home Devices
Any Google or Nest-branded smart speaker will work with multi-room, as will many of the third-party speakers with Google Assistant built in. Tap the speaker group to which you’d like to transfer. You can transfer your session at any time to a speaker group that you’ve already created (for example, you can create a group for all the speakers in your home called 'All speakers'). Audio will immediately stop playing on that device. Audio will begin to play in sync on any selected devices. There may be some exceptions to this, depending on the manufacturer.

As I said before, even with MULTIPLE Spotify accounts the playback on different devices does not work either. One of our kids likes to listen to music as she goes to sleep . Sometimes, we still have music on in the family room on the play 5. This has always worked in the past, until last week. Selected play in the kids room, family room stopped. It doesn't matter from which of our iOS devices we operate the Sonos app and on which speakers we want to play something.
Setting up Voice Match
By virtue of this provision, each of these people can run their own separate account on a single Home device. In order to make the most of this feature, however, you need to use Voice Match. Essentially, this feature teaches the AI assistant to match the different voices to its different users.

Media will immediately stop to play on that device. Google Assistant Smart Displays, including native ones like the Nest Hub or third party efforts from the likes of Lenovo or JBL, have been updated to include multi-room audio control screens. Tap the plus in the top left corner and then hit Create speaker group, which will show you speakers on your network.
Four ways you can get your music to follow you from room to room
When you create a group, it doesn’t change the ability the speaker has to play music by itself; rather, it just adds a separate button at the bottom of your main Google Home page for that particular group. One of the best ways to do it is by going to a music app on your smartphone, selecting the music you want and casting it to a specific Home device. Then go to a different music app, select some other music and cast it to another device. Though this approach is quite lengthy, it works well, avoiding the typical confusion that at times arises with voice commands. On the next screen, you'll see a list of all the audio devices you have connected to your account. You can create any number of groups with any arrangement of speakers you want.
Multiple speakers in one room will be automatically grouped together. However, say you want to add all speakers on a floor to a "Downstairs" group. To do that, open the Google Home app and tap Add and choose "Create Speaker Group." The Google Home app will take you through the final phases of setup, which may vary if you already have other devices set up.
How to use multiple Google Home devices as an intercom
It is not possible to play different music in a specific group. Use the Sonos room and group function to allow your Sonos speakers to play the same music or separate music in different rooms via the Sonos app. Name your rooms so that you can easily tell which speakers will play when selected. You’ll see on the same Add menu there’s also a Create speaker group option. Select this to pick several speakers that will then play audio synced together .

Keep in mind that the audio quality of some of these devices may vary depending on your setup. Even if you have more speakers available, it might not be worth including a poorer-quality speaker in a group with better ones if it's only going to make the whole system sound worse. Even though only one person can own a Google Home device at a time, other people in your home can interact with it. You can train Google Assistant to recognize the voices of up to six users in your household. Once you teach the virtual assistant to recognize different voices, different family members can control any device connected to the ecosystem.
It is possible to use multiple Google Home devices to communicate between different rooms in your smart home. The feature is known as Google Broadcast and lets you send voice messages to all the smart speakers in your home. When you send an invite, the recipient will get an opportunity to set up a personalized Google Home account. In order to do this, the user will download the Google Home app and customize their preferences.
It is possible to play different music in different rooms if streaming from the Sonos app. Swipe down on the Now Playing screen or select rooms, select the room and choose another song or audio file. And Google says that's because it will be expanding the ability into the Google Home app later in the fall. Don’t limit your music listening experience to just one source, hearing it fade out as you go upstairs to brush your teeth or get a snack.
This goes for individual Google Home compatible speakers as well. Similarly, this also applies to speaker groups, found at the bottom of the app. Before you begin, it’s a good idea to teach Google Assistant your own voice. This feature, called Voice Match, is what lets you share your Google Home device with other members of the household, but still get a personalized Google Assistant experience. If you have multiple WiFI networks in your house, you can also set up two or more Sonos Systems to allow different music streams.
